100 Days of Lake Memphremagog
On-Line Exhibition
Thoughts from the Artist: Alyssa DeLaBruere
I am continually fascinated with the complexity, the resilience, and the ever-shifting nature of the landscape. By drawing a simple line across a piece of paper, a scene emerges: sky above, land or water below. Though simple in its construction, the lakescape, landscape, or skyscape can emerge as the most complex and powerful composition of all. I strive through my work to translate all of my senses of the wind and weather, sounds and silence, light and shadow, energy and stillness of nature’s sublime onto a sketchbook page or painting surface. This is the greatest of motivators for me as an artist as it drives me to deconstruct and reconstruct the elements and echoes of what I see, hear, and feel in the presence of nature’s wonder. As a traveling artist and art activist, I have crisscrossed the US and Europe seeking awe-inspiring wild and rural place to capture and record through art and give a visual voice to the promote conservation and preservation of natural spaces.
As I have lived on the shores of Lake Memphremagog for the past 25 years, this series of lakescapes is very meaningful to me. I hope that moments of our beautiful lake that some of us are lucky enough to call home will ignite a new appreciation for this rare gem of the Northeast Kingdom, bring awareness to the issues that threaten it, and action to protect it for future generations. With this, 20 percent of the proceeds from sales of original works and prints from this exhibition will be donated to D.U.M.P. – Don’t Undermine Memphremagog’s Purity and the Memphremagog Watershed Association to help support their continued work to clean up, protect, and conserve our majestic shores.
All works are available for purchase and some are available as high quality Giclee artist prints. See image captions for details and pricing. (original artwork prices include frames for works requiring framing) To purchase a work or print simply click on the image to go to the exhibition purchase form. Prices for prints include shipping.
