WATERCOLOR & Pastel PAINTINGS
Plein-air Chronicles of my Travels
Watercolor is both the simplest and most complicated of all painting forms. It allows the fresh spontaneity of a quick sketch or study, but also can be the greatest challenge in attempting to control something which by nature wants to flow out of control. It was my first love and continues to be the most technically demanding art form as I continue to explore the limits and capabilities of the medium.
Pastel with its quick, colorful directness, is a favorite way to quickly capture a sense of place, light falling on a branch, shadows stretching across a meadow. Easy to carry and fast to build, pastels rich layers record the melody of color and light as the landscape emerges!
